First post!

So here I am. Finally.

I suppose it would be a good idea to let you guys know what my plan is for the impending final project. I want to write a collection of short stories that are all linked by the characters that the stories revolve around. I'm also going to write each story as a reaction to a big event that affects everyone! Complicated, it may sound but fun, it should be (sorry, I just watched Star Wars. I feel like Yoda)

I don't really know how a blog works so if anyone fancies telling me, that would be awesome.

You know, I've been researching this idea for ages now and I have come to a great conclusion. After hours of trawling the Internet for suitable short-story books to learn form from and then cross-referencing those titles with countless libraries and British bookstores, I can now confirm that Britain is NOT a short-story loving nation! I've really struggled to find an extensive reading list. I've got 'Bluebeard's Eggs', 'Life After God', 'After the Quake' and even 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' but besides that I'm having to order books off of the net from places like America, South Africa and Japan. This is proving to be VERY costly. I mean, if the English department would be willing to fund my cause then that would be sweet as pie but I doubt that that would happen. Anyway, I'm a creative writing student, the English department doesn't know I exist anyway! Topical? Maybe.

Anyway, if anyone can suggest any titles for me then that would be fantastic and I may (if I know you) have to buy you a coffee!

Emo girl out.

Most short story magazines host their archives on their websites, so if reading stories off the screen doesn't make you die, try Googling around for some publications and checking out their websites. I can give you some scifi ones if you fancy, or I might have a big index of short fiction markets in my bookmarks somewhere...

read Martin Amis, Heavy Water and other stories, it doesn't really fit in with what you are doing but it's fucking amazing, he subverts conventions in a few of them and they're just really good.

I just wanted to plug Amis.
